  • Leírás: Cremation cleanses the body, whereas the ceremony of Maligie or Mukur is for the puricifation of the soul. For cremation the mortal remains of the people of Bali are laid in artfully decorated animal sarcophagi. We participate in a Mukur ceremony for 200 souls. It is one of the largest Maligies ever held on this island. The film features the manufactoring of sacrificial offerings, a tooth filing ceremony, dances for the entertainment of the guests, prayers, and the sinking of the soul icons in the sea. Only if all of these religious rites are followed, the greatest desire of a Balinese can be fullfilled, namely, to be reborn on Bali.
